Watch: Red Sox star sets new franchise record amid hot streak

On Monday night, Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers etched his name into the franchise record books. He hit a home run in his sixth consecutive game, becoming the first player in Red Sox history to accomplish the feat.

After dealing with a bone bruise to his left knee to begin the season, causing him to miss 11 games, Devers has been unstoppable at the plate during this streak.

Over his last seven games, Devers is slashing .276/.323/1.220, including six home runs and nine RBI as the Red Sox try to climb out of the bottom of the American League East.

Currently in fourth place in the AL East with a 24-24 record, his power surge was much needed as the offense has lacked consistent power outside of outfielder Tyler O'Neill and his team-leading 11 home runs.

Signed to a 10-year, $313.5M contract extension last offseason, Devers slashed .271/.351/.851 with 33 home runs and 100 RBI in 2023 and will look to replicate that season in 2024.

With Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas on the injured list with torn cartilage in his rib cage, Devers will need to continue to carry the load as the face of the Red Sox franchise.

Making his debut in 2017 at 20 years old, Devers has amassed 182 home runs and 578 RBI with a .281/.345/.857 slash line during his eight-year career.

The 27-year-old will look to continue his hot streak and make it seven games in a row on Tuesday evening, as the Red Sox continue their series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
