Minnesota Timberwolves: Anthony Edwards Praises Karl-Anthony Towns for Incredible Game 7 Heroics
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

It took them 20 years, but the Minnesota Timberwolves are back in the Western Conference Finals. Their path wasn’t easy as they had to endure an entire marathon against the Denver Nuggets after sweeping the floor with the Phoenix Suns with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in it.

The final chapter of their seven-game duel was so intense that it attracted more eyes than the biggest American sporting event of the year. It’s become the perfect platform for the T’Wolves to show the world their brand of basketball that has enthralled the entire world.

It’s easy to pin the credit on Anthony Edwards. The high-flying guard has been doing fantastic work in Minnesota, showing everyone he’s the missing piece for the Timberwolves’ hopes of postseason glory. The way he carried himself against the Nuggets is enough to make him one of the league’s best stars.

However, Ant-Man diverted the spotlight from him and focused it on someone who’s been on the team for the past decade.

Anthony Edwards honors Karl-Anthony Towns as the key for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 7 performance

The Timberwolves were in a celebratory mood after their epic 98-90 series clincher over the Nuggets. After all, it seemed for a while that the Timberwolves were throwing their 2-0 lead to the Nuggets after Game 5.

While cameras were zeroed in on Anthony, he took the opportunity to praise Towns and his efforts to help the Timberwolves reach their first Western Conference Finals since 2004:

Towns was an important component to the Timberwolves’ success over the Nuggets. They lost in the games they didn’t play well, save for Game 5. The rest of the games they won saw Towns take on a vital role of shouldering the team’s rebounding and offense while Ant-Man devoted himself to scoring as many points as he could.

Towns finished the series with 18.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 51.0% shooting and 39.4% from deep. Meanwhile, Edwards had a stellar seven-game run of 27.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.6 steals on 50.0/37.3/84.6% shooting splits.

The two will be important for the Timberwolves as they try to outplay the Dallas Mavericks and make their first NBA Finals in franchise history.
